Free Agency Buzz!

Hello once again athletes!!!

I am back once again and with some NBA Free Agency Buzz! There is a lot of interest in a lot of players, so let’s just jump right in!

Chris Paul will return to the Clippers after signing a deal of 5 years worth $107 million. He is hoping his return to the Clips will persuade Dwight Howard’s decision.

Speaking of Howard, he has 6 teams going after him. The Rockets, Lakers, Clippers, Mavericks, Warriors, and Hawks. The Rockets have said they plan to pair him with F Josh Smith to join James Harden. The Rockets have also said that Jeremy Lin and Omer Asik are available for trade offers (I actually predicted that right). The Rockets have also traded Thomas Robinson to Portland to clear cap space.

The Knicks will send Steve Novak, Quentin Richardson, Marcus Camby, a 2016 first-round pick and second-round picks in 2014 and 2017 to the Toronto Raptors for forward Andrea Bargniani. Now all they need is to get Brandon Jennings to have the perfect no-defense lineup. In other Knicks news, J.R. Smith opts out of his contract and becomes a free agent. Knicks are pushing hard for Guard Monta Ellis.

The Lakers are going for some decent, and cheap players, but only have around $3 mil in cap space. They are showing great interest in: Chris Copeland, Jordan Farmer, Matt Barnes, Chase Budinger (or Budginger), and Nick Young. They are pretty decent players if in fact Dwight leaves LA.

The Bulls are going down the same road. The Bulls are showing interest in (may have signed them by now): Andrew Goudelock and Mike Dunleavy.

The Pelicans, coming off the draft night deal to get Jrue Holiday (good trade for them) are now going after G/F Tyreke Evans. Evans has been regressing since his rookie year and most likely will be one of the most overpaid players this summer. Reports say a deal is worth 4 years and $45 mil.

The Pistons are now starting the rebuilding stage. Showing great interest in Andre Iguodala and Josh Smith. If they can get one or both of them, the Pistons have a great nucleus in the making.

The Bobcats are making a push for F/C Al Jefferson. Good luck with that.

The Timberwolves have 4-year deals going out to JJ Redick and Chase Budinger (Budginger). Andrei Kirilenko leaves $10 mil on the table in Minnesota and opts to become a free agent. It is also highly doubtful that C Nikola Pekovic will return to the team.

The Brooklyn Nets (Celtics) have retained F Andray Blatche. The Nets are also reaching out to Guard Marco Bellineli. This is all of course after the blockbuster trade with the Celtics.

The Wizards are making some surprising moves persuing Martell Webster and Antawn Jamison. Also the Wizards have signed Guard Eric Maynor.

Highly covetted Guard Eric Bledsoe is a part in plenty of trades lately. Bledsoe/Caron Butler to Orlando for Afflalo is the latest of which.

The Thunder are persuing Dorell Wright. In my mind, a good bench fit.

What bugs me is no news has come from the JJ Hickson free agency. He is a great center who is very underrated.

That’s going to do it for now. Please stay tuned for a 2nd part to this and also watch for my Draft Grading and also for my Award Predictions for the 2013-14 season. Have a fantastic day.

Later athletes.

The problem with JJ Hickson is he isn’t a center. He gets abused on defense, because he is 6’9″. Also, he shows no effort on defense. He doesn’t go for blocks leaving the paint vulnerable. His good rebound numbers are a direct result from his lack of defense. He lets his teammates play defense and then he jumps for the rebound. I would love Portland to bring him back, but not as our starting center.

This does not have to do with the post but I want to say something. I should you should add Nick (Nickelodeon12) to this blog. He writes great posts on my blog but nobody ever checks my blog anymore and sees how good he is at these posts. I think to keep this blog up and have more posts I think you should add Nick. Just a suggestion.

the rockets have the best chance of getting howard bcuz howard would love to be paired up with some shooters (James Harden, Chandler Parsons) to space out the floor for some maybe isolations in the post, or maybe even the clippers and CP3 bcuz Doc Rivers got signed so howard might wanna go there but i dnt think the Lakers, Hawks, or Warriors have a good shot at howard

My Knicks dream lineup 2013-14: Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler, Monta Ellis, Raymond Felton, and Andrea Bargniani.

Let’s put all this into perspective: Since Kevin Martin just signed with Minnesota, that means Oklahoma City traded James Harden only for meaningless draft picks and Jeremy Lamb.
One more thing: If Dwight leaves LA, Bynum leaves Philadelphia, and Iguodala leaves Denver, that makes Orlando the real winner of last year’s trade (Afflalo, Harkless, Vucevic, five draft picks, & Oladipo).

    Wow… Just wow.

What do you think?
