Nets/Celtics Trade?

  Hello once again athletes!!

I am back once more! The NBA draft is tonight, so watch that to see who goes where. Some big news is the Nets/Celtics possible deal. The Celtics are looking to go younger apparently and are dealing Pierce and Garnett. The best option seems to be the Brooklyn Nets. I think the deal would look something close to this:

Nets get:

Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Jason Terry.

Celtics get:

Gerald Wallace, Reggie Evans, Keith Bogans, Kris Humphries, Tornike Shengelia, and 3 1st round picks in 2014, 2016, and 2018.

I’m not quite sure if it will go down like that, but it seems to work. I think it is an even trade because the Celtics go younger, and get some good defense and rebounding while the Nets get some star players, well maybe for one more year. The Celtics have completely changed over the last week. First they “traded” Doc Rivers to the Clippers and now this possible trade. The Celtics line-up might look something like this:

Rondo, Bradley, Wallace/Green, Evans, Bass. Personally, I would go with Green in the starting SF spot. The Celtics have the 16th overall pick in tonights draft. I think they could possibly move up and get a better player, but this draft is pretty weak. If they offer the 16th pick, and Leandro Barbosa or someone of that caliber they might be able to move up to the 8th pick of the Pistons, or the 9th pick of the Timberwolves. I think if that happens, they should go for Cody Zeller. The Celtics don’t have a center really considering Garnett and Bass played there most of the season. Garnett is out and Bass is a power forward. Bass is listed at 6’8″ and so is Reggie Evans. The Celtics are now officially in rebuilding mode, and rebuilding around star point guard Rajon Rondo.

The Nets are kind of in the second year of rebuilding. The first year was quite successful bringing Brooklyn to their first playoffs. With “Crash” Wallace out, and Pierce and Garnett in, the line-up might look similar to this:

Williams, Johnson, Pierce, Garnett, Lopez. On paper, that is a straight monster of a team, but there are some key intangibles. Garnett and Pierce are 37 and 35, respectfully. They are on their final stretch as pros. But both have shown this season that they still have something left in the tank. I think if they can move MarShon Brooks and their 22nd pick in tonights draft, they can move up to possibly the 14th pick of the Jazz. I think they might get lucky and pickup Shabazz Muhammad, and he can learn from Pierce.

I highly doubt the draft pick trades would happen, but it’s not bad to speculate.

That’s it for now. Remember to check the blog every single day. Also, read all of the other amazing posts by the Reporters. Have a great day.

Later athletes!

This trade left me with a bad taste in my mouth, much like the Jrue-for-Noel trade. It’s obvious that the 76ers plan to tank next year, but I don’t understand from Boston’s perspective in their trade. You trade one of the most loyal players (Pierce) in franchise history and you get nothing in return. I could understand if they got young pieces and was able to create cap space. Gerald Wallace was terrible and is way overpayed. Same goes for Humphries. Bogans and Evans were throwins to make salaries work and the picks will be very low for those years. Bill Simmons looked like he was about to cry and I don’t blame him.

I love how the camera cut to Nerlens Noel when he slid down to #6. He looked like he had lost a puppy. I don’t think a center, coming off injury, undersized (weight wise) is a good trade for an All-star Point Guard. The 76ers are setting up for failure. I guess they think “Well one center screwed us over this year, what are the chances it will happen again?” Even though I got the Cavs pick completely wrong, I don’t mind seeing Bennett in a Cavs uniform. They did need a SF, but if they had picked a center, he could have learned under Varejao, then Varejao could have been dealt at the deadline and they could have gotten a SF anyways. Maybe they are at least one team who cares about team loyalty.

In other news, 3 players from Arizona schools were drafted (Solomon Hill, Arizona (Ind),Carrick Felix ASU (Cle), and Grant Jerrett Arizona (Por)). I was pretty upset the Suns picked Len over Mclemore, but I like the choice. He learns under Gortat, then we flip Gortat at the deadline. We also get Malcom Lee (via trade), Archie Goodwin, and Alex Oriakhi.
